What we treat

Conditions we treat in Kitchener

Most people find us by what hurts. Tap yours, or read how a week at Weber Street actually looks.

Backs, necks and desk strain

Kitchener sits at one end of the tech corridor, and our schedule shows it. A good share of any week is necks and low backs that have spent too many hours at a desk. We look at how you sit and how you move through a working day, then build a plan around both.

Sport and training injuries

Every spring the Waterloo 10k fills the books with runners whose knees or ankles flagged something mid-training. We assess where the load is going and adjust the plan around your race calendar rather than asking you to stop everything.

After surgery or a collision

Local surgical teams refer patients to us with a protocol, and we work to it. We track your range and send the surgical team notes they can actually use. If a car collision is involved, we look after the MVA paperwork too.

Do I need a doctor's referral for physiotherapy in Kitchener?

No. You can book a physiotherapy assessment at Stride Physiotherapy directly, with no referral. Physiotherapists are primary care practitioners, so you can come to us first. One exception worth knowing: some insurance plans ask for a doctor's referral before they reimburse treatment. Check your plan, and if it needs one, ask your doctor for a note before your first claim.

What to expect at your first visit

Assessment

Your physiotherapist listens to what is going on and takes a careful look at how you move. You will not be rushed.

Plan

Together you set goals that matter to you and agree on a treatment plan, including what you can do at home between visits.

Treatment

Treatment usually starts the same day. Hands-on work in the clinic, paired with simple exercises you can actually keep up with.

The First-Visit Assessment

Every initial assessment at Stride Physiotherapy includes:

  • A full hour, one on one with your physiotherapist
  • A plain-language explanation of what is going on
  • A written plan, with costs laid out before anything starts
  • Treatment starting the same visit, when appropriate

Direct billing, so you pay less up front

Extended health benefits

We bill most major extended health insurers directly. In most cases you only pay the portion your plan does not cover, and we sort the paperwork.

MVA and WSIB claims

We support motor vehicle accident (MVA) and WSIB claims, including the paperwork that comes with them.

The clinic, and who you will see

Stride is a small clinic on Weber Street East. You book with Maya, you see Maya, and your plan does not change hands between visits.

What patients say

Maya explained everything before we started and I genuinely felt listened to. I left my first visit knowing what the plan was and what to do at home. Booking was simple and the front desk sorted my insurance details without any fuss.

Jordan K., Kitchenervia Google

Came in after a running injury sidelined me for weeks. The assessment actually found why it kept happening, and I was back to easy runs on a clear plan.

Meaghan D., Kitchenervia Google

No referral needed, direct billing sorted on the spot, and they were straight that I only needed a few visits, not a long program.

The difference

Only the treatment you actually need

Stride Physiotherapy is a Kitchener clinic on Weber Street East, and most of our patients are from right around here. Plenty of them came to us after being signed up for a long program they did not need. We start by finding the real cause, we lay out a plan with every cost explained first, and if a few visits will do it, we say so.

Common questions

Physiotherapy questions, answered plainly

Do I need a doctor's referral to book physiotherapy?

No, you can book an assessment directly without a referral. Most people simply call or book online. One honest note: some insurance plans require a doctor's referral before they will reimburse treatment, so check your plan details. If yours does, bring the referral to your first visit.

What happens at my first physiotherapy visit?

Your first visit is a one-on-one assessment. Your physiotherapist will ask about your history and take a careful look at how you move. Together you will set goals and agree on a treatment plan. Most first visits also include some hands-on treatment, so you leave knowing the next step.

How much does a physiotherapy session cost?

An initial assessment costs $110 and follow-up sessions cost $85, as of July 2026. If you have extended health benefits, physiotherapy is often covered in part or in full, and we can bill many plans directly. Not sure what your plan covers? Call us at (519) 555-0147 and we will help you check.

Can you bill my insurance directly?

Yes, we offer direct billing to most major extended health insurers. In most cases you only pay the portion your plan does not cover. Bring your insurance details to your first visit so we can set it up. If your plan does not allow direct billing, we will give you a receipt to submit yourself.

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition and your goals, so there is no single number that fits everyone. After your assessment, your physiotherapist will recommend a plan and explain the thinking behind it. The plan is reviewed as you go and adjusted based on how things are progressing.

What should I wear and bring to my appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing that lets your physiotherapist see and move the area being treated. Shorts work well for knee and hip issues, and a tank top for shoulders and necks. Bring your health card and your insurance details. If you have a referral or recent imaging reports, bring those too.

How long is each physiotherapy appointment?

Your initial assessment is booked as a full hour, one on one with your physiotherapist. Follow-up visits are shorter, and the length depends on what your treatment plan calls for. When you book, we will tell you exactly how long to set aside so you can plan the rest of your day.

Can I book massage therapy and physiotherapy together?

Yes. Many patients book massage therapy alongside their physiotherapy visits, either back to back on the same day or in alternating weeks. The two are billed separately, because most insurance plans cover massage therapy under its own category. Tell us when you book and we will line the appointments up.

Do you treat WSIB and motor vehicle accident claims?

Yes, we see patients with WSIB and motor vehicle accident (MVA) claims. Bring your claim number and the date of the incident to your first visit, and we will look after the forms from there. These claims are billed through the insurer rather than your extended health plan, and we will explain how that works before treatment starts.
