Headaches
People who live with headaches often add osteopathy alongside the care they already have. A session at Willow Osteopathy is not aimed at the headache itself. It is an hour of gentle, hands-on work that looks at how the neck and the upper back are moving, and at where the body is holding tension.
First visits currently book about a week out.
How a session approaches headaches
We do not treat a headache as a thing on its own. We look at the person carrying it.
Headaches have many causes, and most of them are not ours to diagnose. What a manual osteopathic session can do is pay careful attention to the territory around the head. How freely the neck turns. What the jaw is doing by three in the afternoon. Whether the shoulders have crept up toward the ears and stayed there through a season of deadlines.
Elena works through that territory slowly, with light pressure and gentle mobilization, telling you what she is finding as she goes. None of this is a promise about what your headaches will do. It is a plain description of what the hour looks at, and you decide whether that hour is worth having.
What the hour feels like
Quiet on purpose. If bright light is hard on you that day, say so and the blinds come down.
Your headache history, heard properly
When they started, what your days look like, and what your doctor has already said. This conversation is also a screening: some histories mean we stop here and send you to a physician first.
A gentle whole-body assessment
Particular attention to the neck and the upper back, felt slowly through light clothing. Elena narrates what she notices so nothing is a mystery.
Slow, adjustable treatment
Soft-tissue work and gentle mobilization at a pace set by how you are that day. Every technique is explained first, and you can pause at any point.
One honest note: a headache that is sudden and unlike anything you have had before belongs in a doctor's office, not on our table. Elena is a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner, not a physician, and if anything in your screening suggests a doctor should look first, she will say so plainly and hold off.

A first visit, planned around your head
The studio sits one floor above the quiet end of Locke Street South, and it stays quiet. No music unless you want it, no scent, and the first appointment of the morning is the stillest hour of the day if noise and light are part of your picture. Many people booking for headaches take that 9am slot and mention it in the booking note, which helps us set the room up before you arrive.
We are at 42 Locke St S in the Kirkendall neighbourhood, a few minutes' drive from St. Joseph's Healthcare and about ten from McMaster, with street parking on Locke and the side streets. You get a receipt for every visit for your extended health plan.
Headache questions, answered plainly
Should I see a doctor about my headaches before booking osteopathy?
If a headache is sudden and severe, or simply unlike anything you have had before, see a doctor first. For headaches you have already talked about with your doctor, you can book directly. Every first visit starts with a screening conversation either way, and if anything suggests a doctor should look first, Elena will say so and hold off.
What does a session for headaches actually involve?
A conversation about your headache history, then a gentle whole-body assessment with particular attention to how the neck and the upper back are moving. Treatment is slow soft-tissue work and gentle joint mobilization, through light clothing, with every technique explained before it is used. It is a description of a process, not a promise about what your headaches will do.
Can I book on a day I actually have a headache?
Yes, and mention it when you arrive. The studio can be made dimmer and quieter, and the pace of the session adjusts to how you are that day. If Elena thinks hands-on work is not the right call that day, she will say so and you will not be charged for her saying it.
