The quick answer: a first visit at our London clinic takes about 45 minutes and has three parts. A health history and exam, then a report of findings where I explain what I found and what it would cost, then treatment only if you agree to it. The visit costs $95 as of June 2026, and you do not need a referral to book.
Half the people who sit down in my treatment room for the first time tell me some version of the same thing: they put off booking for weeks because they did not know what would happen once they got here. That is a bad reason to stay sore. So here is the whole visit, step by step, with nothing left mysterious.
How long does a first chiropractic visit take?
About 45 minutes, and we book the full block so you are never rushed. Follow-up visits are much shorter, usually around 15 minutes, because the detective work has already been done. The first visit is longer for a good reason: I will not treat a spine I have not properly examined, and a proper exam takes time.
What does the exam actually involve?
It starts with talking, not tables. You fill in a health history and then we go through it together: what brought you in, when it started, what makes it better or worse and what the rest of your health looks like. This is also where I screen for the small number of cases that belong with a physician first. If that is you, I will say so at this stage and point you to the right place.
Then I watch you move. Bending, turning, sitting and standing, plus specific tests for the joints and muscles involved in your complaint. You stay dressed the entire time, so wear whatever you would wear for a walk. Nothing in the exam should be a surprise, because I tell you what I am checking before I check it.
What is a report of findings?
It is the part of the visit patients thank me for most, and it involves no treatment at all. I sit down with you and explain, in plain language, what the exam showed and what I recommend. I call it showing you my homework. The recommended plan goes in front of you in writing with every cost on one page: how many visits I am proposing, what each costs and why I think the plan fits your case. You can question any of it, including the risks and the alternatives.
Two things will never happen at Anchor Chiropractic: treatment you did not agree to, and a bill you did not see coming. That is the whole philosophy, and it is written up in more detail in what happens at your first visit on our main page.
Will you be adjusted at the first visit?
Only if the exam shows adjustment is appropriate for you, and only if you say yes. For many people treatment does begin the same day, right after the report of findings. Others prefer to take the written plan home and think it over, which is completely fine and does not cost anything extra. And when the exam shows adjustment is the wrong tool for your case, I tell you that too. Sometimes the honest recommendation is a different kind of care entirely, and the report of findings is where you hear it.
What does a first visit cost?
$95 as of June 2026, which covers the history and exam along with the report of findings. Follow-up visits are $55. We direct-bill most extended health plans, so in most cases you only pay whatever portion your plan does not cover. If you are coming in about a specific complaint, our condition pages explain how the exam approaches each one; the most common is low back pain.
If you have been putting a visit off because you did not know what was on the other side of the door, now you know. It is a conversation, an exam and an honest report. The rest is up to you.
